ORES = Opening Range Expansion Score
How large the first 15-minute range is relative to its recent average
It tells you:
“Did NVDA show real intent at the open, or is it still undecided?”
ORES = First 15m Range ÷ Average 15m Range (last N days)
Where:
First 15m range = High − Low (9:30–9:45)
Average = same 15m bar over last ~10 sessions
| ORES | Interpretation | Implication |
|---|---|---|
| < 0.70 | Compressed open | ❌ Low expansion / chop risk |
| 0.70 – 1.29 | Normal expansion | ⚠️ Developing intent — wait for confirmation |
| ≥ 1.30 | High institutional expansion | 🔥 Strong opening intent / trend potential |

NVDA Direction can automatically send a text message whenever your selected ORES thresholds are reached.

NVDA is influenced by opening order flow + institutional positioning
The first 15 minutes reveals:
Was there imbalance?
Or is price still discovering?
ORES answers:
“Did institutions show their hand yet?”

✅ Strong open behavior
First 15m candle has:
Large body
Clear directional push
Follow-through in next 1–2 candles
VWAP not immediately reclaimed
Price begins establishing directional displacement
👉 This is initiative flow
🚩 No real intent
Small first 15m range
Wicks both sides
Price crosses VWAP repeatedly
VDI remains near the -0.5 to +0.5 balance range
👉 This leads to:
Fake breakouts
Rotation
Chop

❌ HARD NO TRADE
ORES < 0.70
Compressed opening range
Limited directional intent
Higher risk of rotational conditions
⚠️ CAUTION ZONE
ORES 0.70 – 1.29
Market is still establishing intent
Only take:
High-quality setups
Strong confirmation from RVF, VDI, MA and TPS
🔥 HIGH-CONFIDENCE CONDITIONS
ORES ≥ 1.30
Strong opening expansion
Greater evidence of institutional participation
Directional setups have stronger context

ORES ≥ 1.30
AND
RVF ≥ 1.40
AND
VDI ≥ +1.0 bullish or ≤ -1.0 bearish
AND
MA confirms directional acceleration
AND
TPS > 0.65
→ This is when:
NVDA has stronger potential to trend
Pullbacks can remain relatively shallow
Continuation setups become more favorable

🔥 A+ TREND SETUP (NVDA)
ORES ≥ 1.30
AND
VDI ≥ +1.0 bullish or ≤ -1.0 bearish
AND
MA confirms directional acceleration
AND
RVF ≥ 1.40
AND
TPS > 0.65
👉 This is your core system trade
❌ FAKE OPEN (common trap)
ORES ≥ 1.30
BUT
VDI fails to establish > +0.5 or < -0.5
OR
MA fails to confirm acceleration
OR
RVF < 1.10
→ Big open
→ No sustained directional confirmation
👉 Avoid
⚠️ DELAYED TREND
ORES < 1.30
BUT
RVF rises to ≥ 1.10 later
AND
VDI establishes direction > +0.5 or < -0.5
AND
MA confirms directional acceleration
→ Trend forms AFTER the open
→ Trade later during the 10:00–11:30 AM EST window

DO NOT TRADE before 10:00 AM EST
Best entries: 10:00–11:30 AM EST
Trading window ends at 11:30 AM EST.
ORES is primarily an opening-context parameter. After the opening period, RVF + VDI + MA + TPS assume greater importance for determining whether NVDA has developed a tradable directional environment.

If the open didn’t expand, NVDA may not have established strong directional intent yet. Conversely, if the open expanded significantly, NVDA is more likely to develop a directional move — provided RVF, VDI, MA and TPS confirm it.
